RIP Yahoo Site Explorer!

Yahoo! Site Explorer has seen its end of the road last 21st of November.

It is a Yahoo! service which allows viewing or exploration of all information on websites in Yahoo!'s search index, Yahoo! Search. It also allows search engine optimisation experts and webmasters alike who have added a special authentication code to their websites to see extra information on their sites, submit their Sitemaps, send requests for URL removal to Yahoo (20 URLs are the maximum request allowed), submit their blog feeds for Yahoo Search Monkey, rewrite dynamic URLs into static and view crawl errors Yahoo detected while crawling their website

Yahoo Site Explorer was launched on 29th September 2005. For 6 years, this explorer tool became the only source of competitor data that was available for free. But in July this year, an announcement was made by Yahoo that they will pull the plug on this tool as soon as the organic results get transitioned to Bing in all the markets. During the transition, webmasters and search engine optimization experts alike were kept advised by Yahoo to use Bing Webmaster Tools.

Now, Yahoo Site Explorer reign has ended and is now rolled in to Bing Webmaster Tools, which is Bing’s version of Google Webmaster Tools.

The SEO and marketing community have bewailed Yahoo’s decision to merge Yahoo! Site Explorer to Bing Webmaster Tools.
